The hotel offers mobile check-in which is so convenient when you're traveling, especially because we had to check in fairly late on Friday night! |

Ashley is a middle school art teacher and as you all know I'm the communications director for a school district, so it was so perfect to slip away for a fun girls weekend before the school year gets crazy! The Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel hosted us and it was so pretty! They just completed a huge renovation, so all of the rooms are beautiful and have modern decor (definitely took away some inspiration), and they just switched to their new name this week. We got to meet a couple of other bloggers at brunch in their Zenia Bar and Grille restaurant (so stinkin delicious), and then had dinner there that night as well (I highly recommend the scallops pictured above). They also have an area called the Great Room with a really impressive bar set-up, as well as 8th St. Pantry where you can pick up drinks and snacks from local companies. We definitely took advantage of this and got a late-night pizza to munch on in our room Saturday night :) We spent about half of the weekend busy and exploring and the other half completely relaxing at the hotel because our room was honestly so pretty and those Marriott beds...cannot be beat. We could even log into our own Netflix and Hulu Plus accounts, so I may or may not have continued the Parenthood bender I'm on at the moment :)
Other than relaxing at the hotel, we spent some time exploring downtown St. Louis, which despite living just a few hours away, I wasn't very familiar with. The hotel is right on Washington Ave, which is such a cute area full of restaurants (with adorable patios), bars and pubs, and other eclectic businesses. On Saturday afternoon we ventured out to City Museum, and I don't even know how to describe it, but I can't wait to take my kiddos someday! We also happened across a little pop-up boutique called Rack & Clutch (St. Louis' first fashion truck), where I picked up some adorable jewelry. Saturday night after dinner and drinks at the hotel we went bowling down the street at Flamingo Bowl, which is the cutest little retro bowling alley! Sunday after relaxing in our room over coffee we went to a Cardinals game (I'm a Royals fan, but it was still fun) before heading back home!
Aside from all of the fun activities, my favorite things about the weekend were a) spending time with Ashley, b) the view from our room, and c) the spectacular Crystal Ballroom at the hotel. The ballroom has been around since 1917, and its 20th story views were ridiculously beautiful. There was a wedding in there on Saturday (that I really wanted to crash), but on Sunday morning we got to sneak up there to capture a few photos, and I didn't want to leave that space. The light, draperies, and architectural detail were stunning!
Thank you so much to the Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel for the wonderful weekend! I can honestly say that I will be staying there again because everything - decor, staff, food, location - was absolutely lovely.
xo,
Jacy
